JOB SUMMARY

As a Wiring Engineer, you play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of design projects related to wiring systems. Your responsibilities encompass overseeing all technical facets of assigned projects, extending technical assistance to the production line, and contributing to the resolution of in-service issues and customer requests.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
• At least 5 years’ experience in wiring and harness design
• Familiar with and understand pertinent TCCA, FAA, and EASA rules and requirements.
• At least 5 years or 5,000 hours of CATIA V4/V5 drafting experience.
• Thorough understanding and experience in configuration/document control.
• Ability to liaise with a wide variety of people within, and outside the company.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software tools to produce presentations and reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Establish/improve measures to ensure/improve quality of engineering documents:
Implement and refine processes and standards for creating, reviewing, and maintaining engineering documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry regulations and internal guidelines.
Develop quality assurance procedures and checklists to be used during document creation and review stages.
Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.

2. Produce and coordinate conceptual layouts for modifications and new designs with other departments and partners to ensure efficiency and compatibility:
Collaborate with stakeholders from various departments, such as design, engineering, and manufacturing, to develop conceptual layouts that meet project requirements.
Ensure that proposed modifications and new designs are compatible with existing systems and infrastructure.
Facilitate communication and coordination between departments to streamline the design process and minimize potential conflicts.

3. Take an active part in the space requirements definition of the wire harness:
Work closely with design and engineering teams to determine the spatial constraints and requirements for wire harness installation.
Conduct thorough assessments of available space and consider factors such as accessibility, routing paths, and safety regulations.
Provide input and recommendations to optimize space utilization while ensuring the integrity and functionality of the wire harness system.

4. Produce wiring diagrams, installation drawings, and harness data reports:
Generate detailed wiring diagrams, installation drawings, and harness data reports based on electrical and avionics system schematics and diagrams.
Adhere to regulatory requirements and industry standards, such as EMI/HIRF/Lightning protection and EWIS regulations, during the design process.
Ensure proper wire separation and segregation according to EWIS regulations and guidelines.

5. Familiar with advisory circular AC 25.1701, 25.1711, etc.:
Stay informed about relevant advisory circulars, regulations, and standards issued by aviation authorities (e.g., FAA) related to aircraft wiring and electrical systems.
Interpret and apply the guidelines outlined in these circulars to ensure compliance in design and documentation processes.

6. Select various components, connectors, back shells, and other parts:
Conduct research on available components and parts by referring to parts catalogues, specifications, and vendor information.
Evaluate factors such as compatibility, performance, and reliability when selecting components for wire harness assemblies.
Coordinate with vendors to obtain necessary components and ensure timely delivery.

7. Analyze existing wiring diagrams, harness data reports, and routing maps:
Review existing documentation and routing maps to identify areas for improvement in wire harness design and installation.
Analyze data and feedback from previous projects to identify common issues or areas for optimization.
Provide recommendations and implement changes to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and maintainability of wire harness systems.

8. Maintain accurate records to ensure configuration control and traceability of documentation:
Establish and maintain a robust documentation management system to track revisions, updates, and approvals for engineering documents.
Ensure that all changes to wiring diagrams, harness data reports, and related documentation are properly documented and traceable.
Support configuration management processes to maintain consistency and integrity throughout the project lifecycle.

9. Support the definition and management requirements for EWIS:
Contribute to the development and documentation of requirements for Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) based on regulatory standards and project specifications.
Collaborate with system architects and engineers to ensure that EWIS requirements are integrated into overall system design and development processes.

10. Support the creation of certification-related documents for EWIS:
Assist in preparing documentation required for certification processes, including compliance reports, test plans, and validation procedures.
Ensure that certification-related documents accurately reflect the design, installation, and performance of electrical wiring systems according to regulatory requirements.

11. Assist in the development of manufacturing, integration, and test processes and procedures:
Work with manufacturing and integration teams to develop processes and procedures for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of wire harnesses.
Provide input on testing protocols and procedures to verify the functionality and performance of wire harness assemblies.
Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish quality control measures and conduct inspections during manufacturing and integration phases.

12. Supporting system development from concept design to production, resolving design, manufacturing, and assembly issues:
Participate in all phases of the system development lifecycle, from initial concept design to production and deployment.
Address design, manufacturing, and assembly issues as they arise, implementing corrective actions and modifications as necessary.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that system requirements are met and that design solutions are technically feasible and cost-effective.
